START AT THE TALBOT!
The Talbot Tower on Kilkenny's New Street was opened in May 2018 after many years of planning, archaeological excavation and architectural intervention. The result is s very pleasant open mini-park with seating and heritage markers that go well beyond the brief of giving the tower's history as one of the few remnants of the impressive medieval city walls. Immediately adjacent (5 minutes'walk) to most of the city's hotels (Butler House, Clubhouse, Hibernian, Hotel Kilkenny, Ormonde, Pembroke, Zuni's) it is an excellent starting point for a historic tour of Kilkenny.
